Movies that looked like hits on paper but ended up being huge disappointments

You maybe thinking "Cats, really?" but think about it:

-Based on one of the longest running Broadway shows ever

-The director's last movie musical, Les Miserables, got tons of Oscar and Golden Globes Nominations and even WINS

-It had an A-list cast, including Jennifer Hudson, whose last big musical won her an Oscar when her only claim to fame was being an American Idol contestant

-Not only did it have Jennifer Hudson but it had her singing Memory of all songs, which in and of itself sounds like the soundtrack is going to be a hit

And then they fucked that all up by going with that horrible visual style. It might've been a disappointment even if they had gone with the regular cat makeup, especially if they were going up against Rise of Skywalker, but it was definitely the straw that broke the camel's back if nothing else
