During quarantine, I decided to watch every single Nicholas Cage Film. Here's how I'd rank them.

First I'd like to say that unfortunately I didn't become a sexy cat by consuming these films.

Overall, after watching these films, I can conclude that Nicholas Cage is an absolutely fantastic actor. While a lot of his later films range from okay to just plain bad, he seems to really give 100% in every role. I think the thing that separates him from most is that he while he does have an Oscar, he doesn't have that one defining role, which for him, isn't a bad thing as he's played a wealth of great characters. See Adaptation, Kick-Ass, Moonstruck, Matchstick Men, and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans as some of his best.

In terms of the watch-ability of his films, here's how I would rank every single one of them. (I left some of these blank as I didn't have much to say about them. (Side note: It's incredible in the amount of films he has set in New Orleans or Las Vegas.)

  1. and 2. Con Air and The Rock - These two movies are everything you could want from a Nicholas Cage film. I have a hard time of saying which one is better, just grab some popcorn and enjoy.

  2. Adaptation - Cage earns his paycheck in this film. If someone questions whether Nicholas Cage is a good actor, show them this film. Honestly probably should've won the Oscar for it as well.

  3. Face/Off - Another great Nicholas Cage action film, this time set in a John Woo world and an awesome chance to see Cage go full Cage.

  4. Kick-Ass - He may not be the star but he shines the brightest in this action film.

  5. Birdy - This one is surprising. I saw it early on in my journey and it stuck with me. Both Cage and Modine put in underrated performances.

  6. Moonstruck - Cher and Nic's chemistry in this film is absolutely perfect. Very fun and very good adult Rom-Com.

  7. Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - This one is over-the-top and absolutely ridiculous. Cage goes full Cage, and it's brilliant.

  8. Matchstick Men - Sam Rockwell doesn't generally star in bad films, and this one doesn't disappoint. Both him and Cage carry the load fantastically, with Cage showing off even more of his range.

  9. Racing with the Moon - Penn and Cage are two actors I would've never thought starred in a movie together, this is from their younger years but the film gives a great taste of what's to come in both their careers.

  10. National Treasure - He really is.

  11. 8MM - A bit underrated, a fun one to watch with a lot of twist and turns.

  12. Raising Arizona - I'm huge on Coen brothers films but I didn't really enjoy this one. A lot of people seem to like it so I feel like I might be the minority in disliking this film.

  13. Leaving Las Vegas - Not really a fan of this one to be honest. I can see why he won the Oscar, but his role in Adaptation certainly deserved the same, if not better, treatment.

  14. Joe - A solid film. After watching enough of his not-so-popular movies, you start to realize the characters he plays are never the same.

  15. The Boy in Blue - A really interesting biopic, that you should definitely see at least once.

  16. The Frozen Ground - If you're a fan of Crime Thrillers, both Cusack and Cage put in good performances with a supplement from Vanessa Hudgens.

  17. Gone in 60 Seconds - A popular one for Cage fans, it's not the best film but it's great for action film lovers who like cars.

  18. Mandy - Another one of those films where Nic Cage cranks the Cage factor up to 11

  19. Lord of War - This one was another surprising film to me. Just thoroughly enjoyable for an Action Drama.

  20. City of Angels - This one almost made me cry.

  21. Snake Eyes - If you 're itching for more Cagey-Cage this is a good snack.

  22. The Weather Man - This one flew a little under the radar but is a pretty good film.

24.-29. The Following are Good Films but not good Nic Cage Films as he didn't have a really big role:
Rumble Fish
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
The Cotton Club
Teen Titans GO! to the Movies
Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted (TV Movie)

  1. Ghost Rider

  2. Kiss of Death

  3. Vampire's Kiss - Meme

  4. Werewolf Women of the S.S. (Short) - If it's ever made, a must watch haha

  5. Valley Girl

  6. National Treasure: Book of Secrets

  7. The Wicker Man - not really a good film, BUT Nic Cage cranks the Cage factor up to 11 which makes it worth watching.

37.-77. I recommend these films for anyone who just wants to watch a Nic Cage film. They aren't great, but they aren't bad either:

Seeking Justice - The film itself isn't great, but there's this scene in Newspaper office where Cage's character discusses capitalizing words that was pretty interesting.
