Most overlooked film from a famous director?

We all know directors have their classics but which films fly under the radar and are legitimately great on reflection? I have a few.

The first is James Cameron's The Abyss, it was a bitch to make and it bombed when it came out but I think it's honestly one Cameron's best, it has a certain sense of sci-fi wonder and all the actors are amazing, especially Ed Harris. It's also in dire need of a Blu-Ray release.

Next is Scorsese's Cape Fear which is my all time favourite remake, updates the original brilliantly whilst also adding a thick layer of style and tension.

Lastly, I've to mention Black Rain from Ridley Scott which I love, Michael Douglas is captivating, Hans Zimmer's music is phenomenal and the Japan setting makes it unique to other 80s action films.
