Akira (1988)

First off, I have to say that ‘Akira’ was one of the greatest undertaking in animation ever - took the genre to the next level.
This is an example that animation is not just for children, because ‘Akira’ is a film aimed for teens and adults.
Right from the beginning of the film you are thrown head first into a Blade Runner like world of future Tokyo.
‘Akira’ is an extremely challenging film, both in content and style, but it is a marvelous film.
‘Akira’ is raw and uncompromising, the action is over the top and spectacular, the setting (Neo-Tokyo) is fantastic, and the characters intriguing.
There hasn’t been a single time that I didn’t get a new insight or vision from watching this film.
The use of colors in this film is nearly hypnotic in its radiance, making for much eye candy on many levels.
I absolutely love the details everywhere: the junk laying around, the destroyed and decayed things that have not been repaired, the look in the eyes of people just walking around...
I think that the last half hour is one of the greatest action sequences ever portrayed on film, whether animated or not.
‘Akira’ contains unlimited imagination and leaves you with millions of thoughts and question.A must-see!
