The Mexican restaurant scene from Nightcrawler where Jake Gyllenhaal’s character pressures Rene Russo’s characters into blackmail, sexual coercion and intimidation is one of the most uncomfortable non NSFW scenes I’ve ever seen.

Don’t get me wrong, Nightcrawler is an amazing movie with an all time great performance by Jake but man is that scene uncomfortable to watch. You can see so many emotions play out in the span of that short scene.

Starts out as an invitation to lunch with a hint of wanting more by Jake. He shows up and comes prepared with facts about her life and her job and that she needs him in order to survive the LA News circuit. She starts out in control by saying she’s doing this lunch date as a courtesy and by the end he’s in charge making demands.

In an already sleazy and uncomfortable movie filled with dead bodies, questionable moral ethics, and unhinged characters, Jake manages to top all that with this one scene.
