Happy 78th birthday to the great Martin Scorsese!

Today legendary director Martin Scorsese turns 78! He has given us classics such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and the Wolf of Wall Street. He's also provided us with hidden gems like After Hours, Silence, and Mean Streets.

From his 5 minute cameo in the back of Travis Bickle's cab to the protest causing uproar of The Last Temptation of Christ, Scorsese has had an illustrious career and one of the best filmographies in cinema history.

Scorsese films have garnered 71 Academy Award nominations over 53 years and 25 films. Martin has also been nominated 9 times for best director in his career, the most any living director has and second only to William Wyler all time. However his only win came in 2007 for directing The Departed.

It looks like the old man isn't slowing down either, in 2019 the critically acclaimed The Irishman chronicled the feeling of mortality that himself and frequent collaborators Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have in this later stage of life. But it looks like Martin is gearing up to start filming his next full length film Killers of the Flower Moon in 2021.

In 1990 Scorsese also founded The Film Foundation, a non profit aimed to resort and preserve film worldwide. Today the organization has helped restore over 800 films and will continue to do so.

I didn't see any post about Marty's birthday in the sub yet and thought I'd elaborate on my favorite director and one of the best to ever do it!

What are your favorite Scorsese films? What are your least favorite? What do y'all think of his career and filmography? I'd love to hear everyone's opinions!
