Apparently the big drought in Alicia Silverstone's career in the 10 years after Clueless has a lot to do with her being fat shamed after Batman & Robin

“I stopped loving acting for a very long time,” she says, adding that it was a role in a David Mamet play that reinvigorated her. “My body was just like, this is what I’m meant to do, I love it so much, I need to find a way to do both, to be able to be an actress and be an activist at the same time so that’s what I did."

This came up because I watched Clueless last night and was impressed with how well she did for being a 16 yr old girl. She really nailed it. So it got me to wondering: what was she doing in the decade after that? Then a friend said that the fat shaming drove her away from the business. Kinda sad.
