The Mummy (1999) is one of the most entertaining films I've ever seen.

I just re-watched The Mummy with Brendan Fraser, and it came to me how incredibly well-made this is as an action/adventure film. It feels like a worthy successor to the Indiana Jones series with its tone and story.

The action is well-staged and surprisingly violent. The editing flows well and the pacing feels quick/ Brendan Fraser plays a super compelling protagonist, who's charming, funny, and kind of aloof. Rachel Weisz is such a well-written female character, who's both smart and beautiful. And the CGI, while cheesy-looking at times, is never ugly to look at and still looks better than the majority of VFX today.

I recently saw this movie on HBO Max, and it still holds up today. Definitely check this one out if you have the chance!
