You can make a legitimate case Eddie Murphy not only had one of the best 10 year runs in cinema history but one of the most important ones too. In a time where Hollywood refused to cast black actors in lead roles, Eddie put out 2 stand-up classics in theatres and then huge iconic classics.

Think about it before Eddie who really was getting pushed with blockbuster lead roles that was being sold internationally? Eddie in the '80s put out Coming to America, Trading Places, 48 hours, Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2, and two classic stand-up specials. If there was no 1980's Eddie Murphy then there wouldn't be a Denzel, Wesley Snipes, Will Smith, etc.
