Bruce Willis wasn't just a great action star, he was genuinely a great actor

Inspired by the earlier news about Travolta/Willis's new movie, I re-watched Sixth Sense tonight

People talk about Unbreakable as his marquee performance but I feel he doesn't get enough credit for Sixth Sense. I honestly think his performance in that movie isn't just good, it was great, basically perfect. The performance never wavers for even a second of the movie and his realization of the twist is perfectly acted without anything unnecessarily flashy

Can't say this for certain since it's just diving into a lotta possibilities but I'm really not sure that the movie/role could have been any better with literally anyone else in the lead. Heavy drama, top tier actors included

Also want to mention a movie that never really gets mentioned. The Kid (2000). It's definitely not a great movie but not a bad one, very watchable. But yeah, it's Bruce once again with a really solid performance playing off a young kid as a cynical 40 year old who gets to see his childhood again

Closing off with what was already heavily mentioned in that thread, Looper. The brief flashback scenes with his wife is some of his best work and most definitely the last time he actually gave a shit. I kind of pretend that Bruce retired after this

Oh and also P.S. He's always had pretty good comedic timing. Actually was a comedic actor even before he was an action guy
