Should directors get more credit for being able to make "fun" movies?

So, I'm mainly asking this because fun is subjective and isn't as measurable of a metric as, say, being able to create an engrossing drama through visual language or crafting a masterful script if you're a writer-director. That's something we give filmmakers credit for and there are actual awards for it. There are no awards for "fun", but it should count for something, right? Like, if you're a sports fan, did you ever have a team you just thought was fun to watch? Maybe they never won any championships or changed the game, but damn it if they weren't entertaining! Same principal here. Making movies like The Rocketeer, The Wolfman, Jurassic Park III and Captain America isn't going to make people look at Joe Johnston as some master auteur, but they're enjoyable and rewatchable. That's a skill, right?
