The Thing (2011): Practical Effects Cut - push for Universal to release it!

Has this Reddit community of over 25 million ever attempted to push for Universal to release the original, practical effects, non-CGI version of The Thing (2011)? The Snyder cut of Justice League came about after a mass public call for it, so I'm wondering if there's some precedent for convincing Universal to do the same. Next year will be John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) 40th Anniversary, after all.
