What is your movie Conspiracy Theory?

Here's what I mean. There's no proof of this anywhere, but I think Gus Van Sant intentionally took a bullet for his shot to shot remake of Psycho. I think a bunch of execs were going to remake that movie no matter what. I think he convinced them a shot for shot remake would be "cool", knowing there was no way he, or anyone, could improve on what is basically a perfect movie.

I think it was basically a big fuck you to the remake mentality so prevalent in Hollywood, and he kept it out of the hands of some crazy director doing some weird bullshit with a Hitchcock remake.

So give me your most awesome, completely unproven movie Conspiracy Theory.
