Martin Scorsese's cameo as the psychotic passenger in "Taxi Driver" is my favourite cameo by a director in their own movie.

He played it to perfection with his 100mph dialogue delivery. From the very moment he entered the cab, he was captivating and mysterious. So mysterious, that there are fan theories about the character being an imaginary figment of Travis Bickle's mind.
