Should I watch Blade Runner (1982) before watching Blade Runner 2049?

Hey everyone, in honor of Dune I’m trying to finish watching all of Villenueve’s films. Have seen Prisoners, Inscendies, Arrival, and now Dune.

I was wondering if watching the original Blade Runner is necessary before 2049, or if it enhances the viewing. All I know is that Harrison Ford is in both of them as the same character. Thanks all!
