Which movie was BETTER as a result of technical limitations?

I have often wondered this, however one of my votes would to go towards the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I think the mixture of CGI and practical FX was absolutely phenomenal. The fact that CGI was still 'getting there' meant that Jackson had to be careful to strike a balance, which I feel has really stood the test of time.
