What horror movie has had the highest (average) quality of sequels?

I ask after watching a handful of middle-of-the-road sequels like New Nightmare and H20. Good enough to be talked about by fans, but obviously no better than the originals. What really sets them apart is how bad their numbered contemporaries are.

What franchise has enough hits to make it worth pushing through? Or a good enough sequel to nake you forget the bad ones?
