Who is the Gene Wilder of this generation?

Nothing against Johnny Depp or Timothy Chalamet (and we've only seen the trailer for the latter's movie), but both seem like they're pretending pretty hard for Wonka. Gene Wilder was just so unique with the ability to be completely unhinged and yet hinged at the same time, and without a single wink to the camera (and I'm thinking of Wonka and Young Frankenstein). I could see a bunch of other actors able to do what he did, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Bill Murray, but I wonder who of today's younger actors could do those kind of roles?
