Dumb and Dumber’s writing is overlooked

I recently watched Dumb and Dumber and I realized how brilliant the script was. When people think of this movie they often remember scenes like the infamous toilet scene or Lloyd and Harry’s makeover. And while this are great scenes and I enjoy them, I found myself laughing at the smaller and almost subtler moments such as Harry’s reason for not wanting to go to Aspen being because “The French are assholes” or Lloyd owning a “Casino” watch instead of Casio. In that same scene, Lloyd remaining on the floor in the fetal position after Harry came in and hit Sea Bass with the door. Finally when Lloyd and Harry end up at the charity event and Lloyd says “put us down for three plates in case we want seconds” and then sprays in the opposite direction. It’s these little moments that make the film work for me.

TL;DR: Dumb and Dumber’s more over the top moments overshadow some of the funniest lines/scenes in the movie
