"i realized i'd never heard a woman announcer on a movie trailer, either"

...that's what catherine yronwode wrote in August 1991 as the editor of Eclipse Comics in Miracleman #22 (she always signed and wrote in small letters sans capitalization). It's been 28 years and we've since all but stopped using announcers on movie trailers save for the most satirical tongue in cheek ones to date. Did we ever get that woman announcer?

The editorial think piece was about how the media and radio stations at the time required a "network quality voices" and were of course back then predominantly characterized by a deep male voice with a friendly culturally savvy chuckling baritone. And while the rest of the editorial is thankfully dated and we've moved on to more variety of that "network quality voice" -- the quip about the trailers kept bugging me. Let me know if there ever was one trailer with a woman announcer, and if you can contact catherine yronwode, former editor of Eclipse comics... all the better!
