I won an award from NASA to launch a Time Capsule into space to represent the human race, what movies would like to see on it?
Hi reddit!
We’re putting a satellite Time Capsule into space, through an award won by NASA, which is meant to get as many people involved and learning about space as possible.
It’s like a 21st Century Golden Record, which was a Time Capsule put into space 40 years ago by Carl Sagan. It represented the human race in the 70s, but the world has changed a lot since then. So we’re doing a new one in it’s 40th anniversary where anyone can participate!
We’re a group of teenagers doing this, and we found a book called How To Make a Spaceship that we loved and are now working with our heroes that were in that book to build this like Burt Rutan (who created the spaceship that accomplished the first private manned mission to space), Peter Diamandis (founder of the X-Prize). In addition to working with Clyde Space who have built satellites for the European Space Agency and United Kingdom Space Agency.
The launch is scheduled for June 23rd, 2017
What movies do you think are the best in the world that we could send up there?
NASA is covering the multi million dollar launch cost, but we have to cover the cost of the satellite. If you want to get a copy of the time capsule, or send your own video up there, you can contribute to us on Kickstarter.
Of course the chosen movies will be free, as we want to represent the human race!
