Inspired by the trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, I decided to rewatch The Fifth Element

I love this movie. It just encapsulates early '90s culture for me, what with Ruby Rhod and the cyberpunk vision of NYC. I actually learned today that Luc Besson had been writing some version of its script since he was 16 years old! It took 22 years for it to be released to film. And it's such a fantastic vision too, I'm glad this movie became as big of a hit as it was, even if as a cult hit.

The Fifth Element is, for lack of a better word...perfect. Valerian really is in good hands with this director.
