Wreck-it Ralph (2012) is a very Pixar-ish Disney film, while Brave (2012) is a very Disney-ish Pixar film.

Think about it, Wreck-it Ralph very much seems to fit in the theme that Pixar movies usually have, "what if ___ had feelings?" by being a movie about sentient video game characters, and legit making you cry near the end (I admit I almost did) like just about every Pixar movie does.

On the other hand, Pixar's Brave has the kind of story that you will generally find in a Disney Animation Studios film, being a story about magic, royalty, and the main character being a princess. Like Tangled and Frozen it subverted many princess movie tropes.

Coincidentally they were both released in the same year, so they must have been in production around the same time.

Just a thought I had.
