Finally watched The Lobster. What a fascinating and beautiful movie.
I don't think I've seen such an original and complete exercise of surrealism in film since probably Synechdoche, New York. I don't believe the actors in this movie have been given enough credit for being entirely on the same page, and I'm sure the writers and director must have created an incredibly clear vision to make that happen, which would be difficult for such an odd concept.
I was also very impressed with the cinematography. They captured an extraordinary amount of detail in the woodland settings, and there are quite a lot of diverse backdrops, many of which are absolutely breathtaking.
This was just one of the most thought provoking movies I've seen this year, and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Just go into it with an open mind; there's almost nothing conventional about this film.
