The Great Wall. my honest opinion.

TL;DR: I expect nothing and I'm still let down.

Cons:
The film is just boring and have no depth. i am a big Matt Damon fans, and i want to like this film so bad. Most of the main cast is really good actors. Andy Lau, Eddie Peng, Pedro Pascal and Willem Dafoe is all proven great actors, but the film still manage to make them look bad. The dialogue is so plain and naive. After the trailer came out, some people comment that Matt Damon looks like he is reading line from the script with no emotion, and he is like that most of the time. (there is a few scene of him banter with pedro pascal and we get to see a more funny side of him). The dialogue feels like someone is whipping the writer and screaming "make it simpler! use more common words!" There is no build up tension from the monster. The soldiers (not normal soldier mind you, it is a team of elite soldier trained to fight the monster.) is so sloppy they need an outsider to save them from a simple situation. If you expect to see some really clever china military and weapon technology / skills, you will be disappointed. it took them 60 years to learn how to successfully defend the wall. (with the help of Matt Damon of course). I know Matt Damon is supposed to help the chinese to defeat the monster (he is the superstar after all) but not that blatant. Matt Damon and the girl general keep using the word "信任" (trust), and those scenes are so cheesy it made me cringe. The final big fight and sacrifices is so underwhelming and i can think of at least 10 ways to end the fight without sacrificing anyone important.

Pros:
The cinematography and cg effects are amazing. Matt Damon is still so handsome. no ragrets. not the worse film i ever watched. just painfully mediocre.

i know this is abit all over the place but i just came out of the cinema, have to write it down before i forgot. and sorry for the bad english.
