J. Jonah Jameson from "Spider-man" (2002) is actually a pretty decent dude

So I was watching the 2002 Spider-man movie with Tobey Maguire today and discovered something rather fascinating about J.K. Simmons portrayal of the famous loud mouthed bastard yet hilarious character that is J. Jonah Jameson. During the scene in which the Green Goblin flies through the window and practically sets all of JJ's office on fire, he clutches him by the throat and brings him several feet into the air then demands that he tell him who takes Spidey's pictures for the Bugle. Peter Parker has just finished arguing with JJ right before this moment and is actually standing outside his office when the Goblin busts in. You might think that the "slime" J. Jonah Jameson would immediately turn-over Peter, but he doesn't. In fact, he actually profusely lies to the Green Goblin right to his horrifying goblin helmet with his life clearly in serious danger. I think this really reveals a lot about the loyalty and respect JJ actually has for his employees, and Peter is only a freelance photographer. What do you guys think?
