Looks like there's been a shakeup concerning the directors for the new Han Solo movie. Who will replace Lord and Miller as the director of the upcoming Han Solo film? Did someone say.... /r/movies BETTING POOL?

Don't ask me why because I have no fuckin' clue but for some reason when I heard this news earlier tonight my first thought was, "Let's hold a betting pool in /r/movies to see who can guess who the new director will be!"

Let's be real. Directors don't often get fired/quit huge studio projects halfway through filming every day. And when it does happen it's not on literally the biggest franchise in cinema. So why not have a little fun? Here's how this will work:

  • Leave a comment with who you think will replace Lord and Miller as the director of the Han Solo. Remember, this is who you think will replace them, not who you want to do it. So before you say you think Terrence Malick would be a great choice remember that Disney has already hired the famed director of The Book of Henry for Star Wars IX.

  • You can include your reasoning if you'd like. Remember to consider things like current schedule, relationship to Disney, etc. In turn, all discussion on this topic will be condensed to this thread and the original post about it so feel free to discuss the options in the comment threads.

And that's it! Once the announcement is made (Kathleen Kennedy said we will know soon) we will find the first person to have guessed that director and give them their choice of custom /r/movies flair, and our great overlord /u/girafa has even thrown a $20 Amazon gift card into the mix to make things interesting.

If no one guesses it then I guess this was all pretty pointless, so throw out your idea no matter how unlikely! But also let's keep in mind this is all still pretty pointless.

Have fun and enjoy movies responsibly!

Yours truly,
