Manchester By The Sea is the greatest portrayal of grief

[I just finished watching MBTS, and my god it has knocked the wind out of me. I dont know if I want to discuss this movie with everyone else who found this amazing, like one always wants to after watching a great movie, or just sit quietly and keeping thinking about the movie, and sock anyone who wants to strike up a conversation with me.

That police station interrogation scene and the his subsequent reaction will be etched in my mind for a long time. You can tell he was so guilt ridden that he even wanted to include the presence of cocaine (Was there really cocaine, or was he trying whatever he could to get him arrested and punished?), even when he could have omitted mentioning that detail.

Much has already been said about the scene with Michelle Williams. "I should fuckin' burn in hell for what I said to you". That really broke me.

The cinematography was beautiful. Lovely framing. There was also a lot of grain, giving it a very shot-on-film look.

My favourite scene was the one where Lee has returned to his one-room flat and is carelessly throwing his things into the cartoon. Except the three photograph frames standing on top of the TV. I expect the director to cut to the opposite side and show us who's pictures were those, for anyone who hadn't figured it out yet. But he did not, and I loved that fact, making that scene way more powerful by letting the audience figure it out for themselves. The fact that has kept those pictures, then carefully dusting them and them packing them away says so much without showing a lot!

MBTS has messed up my mind for sure, but I am glad that Oscar went to Affleck atleast!](#spoiler)
