35 Years ago this summer saw the release of E.T., Blade Runner, Poltergeist, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, John Carpenter's The Thing, and Tron

AFI is currently running a 1982 retrospective and I'd never thought about how they all came out in the same summer - even though I lived through it.

And those weren't the only big films that year or that summer. 1982 also saw the release of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Creepshow, First Blood, Conan the Barbarian, The Dark Crystal, Tootsie, The King of Comedy, Beastmaster, Swamp Thing, Diner, and the Last American Virgin were released. Was something in the water? More importantly, will there ever be a year like 1982 again?
