In Batman V Superman, how has Clark Kent/Superman, a reporter/super hero with internet access, never heard of Batman or Bruce Wayne?

He learns about Batman when some random guy in Gotham tells him while investigating another story, then when he brings the story back to the Daily Planet, he pitches it as breaking news like nobody there has ever heard of him either. Then at the Lex Luther fundraiser, he doesn't know who Bruce Wayne is when he sees him get out of his car. These cities are right next to each other, the joker is shown to already have been a big deal when we see the spray painted bat suit, and the man-bat is hinted at maybe having happened when you see the possible reference to it in the crypt. Either of these being thwarted by Batman would be pretty newsworthy, and I assume Gotham has reporters who also have internet access (not to mention plain word of mouth from everyone in Gotham who knows about Batman), yet Metropolis and Superman are in the dark?
