Inglourious Basterds: Did Hans Landa keep his word to Monsieur LaPadite?

In the opening scene of Inglourious Basterds, SS Colonel Hans Landa visits Monsieur LaPadite at his farmhouse to investigate a Jewish family who are unaccounted for and whom Landa suspects LaPadite is harbouring.

During the scene, Landa says: "I might add also that any information that makes a performance of my duty easier will not be met with punishment. Actually, quite the contrary, it will be met with reward. And that reward will be that your family will cease to be harassed in any way by the German military during the rest of our occupation of your country."

Following this, LaPadite confesses to sheltering the Jewish family and points out to Landa where they are hiding. The Jewish family is then killed except for the daughter, who escapes. The scene then fades to black and we never learn of LaPadite's fate.

It was always my impression that Landa was being honest and that, following this scene, he and his men would have left the LaPadite family unharmed and never bothered them again. This makes sense to me since LaPadite was only protecting a neighbouring family, Landa would have known that he didn't pose any real threat.

However, my friend firmly believes that Landa would have killed the family as punishment for harbouring Jews and so that Shosanna could not return to the farmhouse. To be honest, his theory does fit with Landa's ruthless nature but I don't think Landa would have bothered with such a non-threat.

What do you think? Did Landa keep his word or not? Is there any hint to LaPadite's fate in the film that I might have missed? Can you think of similar ambiguous instances in other films?

TL;DR In the opening scene, Hans Landa tells Monsieur LaPadite that he will not be harmed if he confesses. Do you think Landa kept his word?
