In the film Idiocracy, the FCC was bought by a cooporation and the power was abused.

BRAWNDO The Thirst Mutilator saw Water as competition, so they bought the FDA and the FCC to do whatever they wanted, and as you see in the film, it ends up being a problem down the line. Right now we are on the verge of the FCC not being sold to any specific coorporation, but they are trying to give even more power to the cooporations which will only lead to similar problems.

Are we really on the verge of this film becoming reality? With how stupid "reality" television has gotten, I wouldn't be surprised if a show came out in 2018 that was all about guys getting hit in the balls.
