Starship Troopers - Was the attack on Buenos Aries a false flag?

Might be an obvious question but I'm not too sure...

The opening scene of the movie shows Klendathu (the bug planet) on a galactic map, literally millions of light years away from earth, followed by the proclamation that it must be destroyed if earth is ever to be safe again.

Then, when the asteroid hits Buenos Aries, they say it came from the bug quarantine zone. But that doesn't make sense, since the bugs live on the other side of the galaxy.

The news clips of Buenos Aries in flames is overly cinematic, with a number counter totalling the millions of dead people. They even have a shot of a dead dog, with a civilian proclaiming that the only good bug is a dead bug. It all seems very staged and manipulative.

Next scene - the United Nations (or whatever) have voted unanimously to launch a full scale assault on the bug homeworld.

Do you think it was being suggested that the asteroid attack was a staged event by the government to justify an attack on the bugs' homeworld?
