Fifth Annual Oscar Bingo Submission thread!

Fifth annual Oscar Bingo. Christ, I've been modding this sub for over five years. Is anyone hiring?

Hey everyone. Excited for the Oscars? Well so are we! So much, in fact, that several years ago we thought of a completely ridiculous and inane activity for all of us to take part in on the big night. We called it Oscar Bingo, because that's exactly what it is. It's been a great success every year, everyone has lots of fun, and it doesn't really cost us much money so we're doing it again!

Here's how it works!

  • Submit ideas for things that might happen during the Oscars. Oscars only, no preshow. Example: "Someone mispronounces Saoirse Ronan" or "Daniel Day-Lewis doesn't laugh at a joke made about him." Keep it light and let's keep things like "Get Out wins Best Picture" off the gamecards. Getting too specific will only make the game less fun. That said, submissions like, "Shape of Water wins 6 Oscars" would be acceptable. Nothing that is impossible, the point here is to get enough probable ideas down that someone might have a chance to win this thing.

The mods reserve the right to execute editorial control over the final bingo squares. Our intent is to make the game more playable based on last year's experience.

  • Once we have collected submissions for a couple of days, we will un-sticky the thread and start to make game cards with your suggestions. Our friends over at print-bingo.com will again be doing some specialty work with us for this. Last year we cut it somewhat close to the max number of cards in the system, so as usual we ask that users be conservative about how many cards they have generated for themselves.
  • We will post a gamecard pickup thread the day before the Oscars. All you will have to do is follow the link in the thread, do the captcha, and save the PDF file with your card on it. While we've never had a problem with this before, please keep in mind that the prizes won't be anything special. More of a novelty gift from myself so don't waste your time trying to game the system. Just play and have fun!
  • We'll post the game thread Oscar Sunday. The point of the Game Thread is to discuss game related things and for me to make final decisions on the more open to interpretation squares. It will be stickied. We will provide you with an e-mail address to send your winning entries to - first person to send a picture of a completed gamecard with their reddit ID written down nearby wins! What do they win? I will send you a care package of bad DVDs and maybe some gifts from the admins. We might even have some Reddit Gold to give away again this year too!
  • Please use this list of presenters and nominees to help you come up with ideas! One time someone predicted that Zach Efron would fumble a while presenting and it completely blew my mind.

Here's some "official" rules:

  • Submissions must be 80 characters or less. They gotta fit in them bingo squares!
  • As mentioned, don't submit anything impossible or too ridiculous. Hyperbole is no one's friend in bingo.
  • We will be taking the top submissions, so be sure to vote on your favorites!
  • Try not to get too specific. "Gwyneth Paltrow wears golden buckled heels and coughs into her left hand when the host mocks her" isn't going to cut it. And if it did this game wouldn't be much fun. Same goes for mentioning specific nominees winning specific categories. Keep it simple. The best squares are the ones that have several chances of happening and pop up without notice!
  • You can submit about anything that might happen at the Oscars, but not the preshow. Nobody wants the game to be over before it begins!
  • Whoever e-mails the e-mail account first with a picture of the winning gamecard and their reddit ID written nearby wins. Doesn't matter if someone else took their picture first or if you announced it in the thread before we receive the winning e-mail. First valid e-mail takes the shitty prize.
  • The e-mail address will be announced in the game thread.
  • Please do not try to collect more than one gamecard.
  • Have fun!
