"Look Who's Back" was not what I expected
The premise for "Look Who's Back" intrigued me while I was browsing Netflix, so I dove into it. Hitler waking up in modern-day Germany, listed as a comedy. Looked like a good laugh.
(Spoilers ahead, if you don't want to know anything about the film don't read, but go watch it)
What I expected was a Borat style film about Hitler travelling across today's Germany, they'd make it a real fish-out-of-water type deal I figured. Nope. While the first 30 or so minutes did run like that... As the film progressed, its true purpose was revealed.
We see two types of people that Hitler meets in this movie: #1 those who think he's a satirical comedian, and #2 those who listen to him. My laughs faded as he started talking about getting rid of immigrants to the #2s, and they were on board. He gets signed up by the #1s to do TV shows, this hilarious guy playing Hitler. Damn does this movie escalate quickly. It becomes clear that people don't just like him for the irony. They're really rallying up to him... surely they can't take him seriously?
This movie is a great analogy that shows how Hitler took over the German people's minds back in the 1930s. Definitely check it out
