Die Another Day doesn't actually have all that much CGI in it, now that I rewatch it.

Die Another Day is famous for being the Bond movie that spoiled it with too much CGI which is still true. But listening to the commentaries now they are talking about smashing 20 luxury cars for a car chase done on real melting ice, needing a whole runway to bring up a huge cargo plane up to walking speed just for one shot of Bond and Halle running up to it and jumping in. These days any shot with a military vehicle would probably be CGI. In DAD even the scenes that are famous for being CGI ruiners (like the rocket sled hanging off a cliff then parasailing to safety) actually have more miniatures and old fashioned camera tricks than CGI. Though the CGI money shots still ruin it.

The movie still has serious problems in style, but watching it again now it's actually a good action movie and much more practical than CGI. Brosnan points out in the commentary that that the ice fields in the car chase and exterior ice hotel scenes now only exist on film in Die Another Day because they had already melted completely away.
