Follow up rant on calling the movie The Witch “The VVitch”: director confirms it was a stylized font and NOT a “double v” spelling.

It’s not an “old English spelling” and it’s not based on the way w is pronounced in other languages.

It is a STYLIZED font for the cover of the movie/poster because back in the day, posters and papers were printed with something like stamps. When a W stamp would break they’d use two Vs to make up for it. On a particular poster this is what they did, and the director says this is where he got the idea to stylize the font. For AESTHETICS ONLY.

Case closed. The movie is called The Witch.
