Whatever you think of Avatar, we should appreciate the fact that, for the last decade, an original film has been the highest grossing movie of all time.

Franchise movies dominate Hollywood more than ever. Seemingly there's a sequel, prequel, remake, reboot coming out every week. MCU and SW broke almost all box office records during the last few years, but none could dethrone Avatar thus far.

Whether Endgame overtakes it eventually or not, we can't overlook the monumental success that was Avatar. You might not be a fan, but it's mind-blowing that an original movie has been the highest grossing film of all time since 2009.
