To avoid any potential issues - Should 2020 Oscars be hosted by the Muppets?

Fully hosted by the Muppets start to finish.

With every potential host out there under more and more scrutiny and many actors not wishing to perform the hosting duties. It just seems to make sense to remove all risk and just have The Muppets host it.

  • Have Fozzie in a writers room being blamed for all the bad jokes that don't land. Gives writers a freedom to push boundaries a bit knowing the blowback is mitigated because no one outside the writers knows who wrote it and "Fozzie" takes the blame.
  • Each Guest host can be pared up with a Muppet that matches them to work off of. And those who don't wish to share the stage with a Muppet wont have to.
  • They're well known for musical numbers and big productions.
  • Animal in the Orchestra pit can just rage out on the drums when a winner is talking too long and glare at them.
  • The first half of the Oscars would be able to be watched by families without worrying about more adult/mature humour.
  • Coupled with animatronics they could experiment with a bunch of new ways to present The Muppets and their acts.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of the Oscars but was having this discussion with some friends last weekend and we couldn't really think of any negatives to it. It would give the Oscars a much needed boost in popularity - give it a chance to get back some levity and calm - they could host for a few years and then change it back.

What do people think? Would you watch The Muppets presenting The Oscars? Have I got it all wrong?
