a love letter to Die Hard with a Vengeance

Just got done watching this movie for the 10th? time since i was a kid and i just wanted to write down my appreciation for the movie.

Most people will say Die Hard 1 is the best...but to me 3 is easily the most enjoyable of the Die Hard movies and is maybe one of my favourite if not favourite action movies of all time.

It has great characters, John McClane is at his most washed up and just at rock bottom. Zeus is a wonderful contrast to John and they have great chemistry. The humour is dry and sarcastic and just tired and annoyed (which is the greatest type of humour but that's subjective of course).

The plot is interesting but the action scenes are great as well, in the sense that, they still feel believable (enough) and have a certain rawness to them. They don't drag on for too long either where you're like..alright get it over with. The elevator scene is tense and brutal and over in seconds, the car chase scene in the mercedes is done in a great way and the scene in the subway is also just wonderful (as well as the taxi drive over there...the riddles and assignments and the frustrated interactions between our 2 leads)

I also like the fact that our heroes get fuuuuucked up, as well as the cars they drive around in. It just feels more raw and real than a whole lot of other movies while still deliverin it all in a playful humorous way.

The violence is also portrayed in just the right way. They don't show brutal close ups of headshots where you're like...this was unnecessary? (see american ultra for example...very strange tonal shifts) They mostly just show the effects/end result which keeps the tone light enough.

Love the way it starts as well...with the Joe Cocker song over the starting credits.

anyway....who's with me? What's your favourite of the Die Hard movies (and why?)
