Any knowledge of "Sin Street"? Possibly from the silent-era; I have studio-produced lobby cards, but can find no evidence of the film's existence.
I purchased these original lobby cards from an antique mall in Cincinnati in the '90s. The stills are high-quality, glossy B&W photos, and the hand-lettering is professional (I say that as an art school alumnus with experience in hand-inking typography with a brush; it's not easy to achieve the precision, smoothness and consistency seen here). But having scoured the AFI catalog and Library of Congress, I can't find any record of this movie. I know many silent-era films are lost without a trace and, while I'm certainly no film historian, the visual elements would lead me to place this within the first third of the 20th century. Production numbers on the stills are:
- G.F. 4000 A 24
- G.F. 4000 A 76
- G.F. 4000 A 117
For what it's worth, apparently numerous film companies had a presence in Cincinnati in the '30s & '40s, according to this article from the current owners of the old art deco Warner Bros. building that sits at the corner of Central Parkway & Liberty in Over-the-Rhine.
