Apparently Leonardo DiCaprio was offered The Mummy (1999) and loved the script and wanted to be in the film, but he had already agreed to star in The Beach (2000). It's also been said that DiCaprio asked if The Beach could be delayed so he could film The Mummy, but producers refused.
