David Finchers Gone Girl (2014) Director Commentary is absolutely hilarious

David Finchers commentaries are all great, for how informative and conversational they are. But Gone Girl features all the hallmarks but maybe it was the mood he was, it is absolutely hilarious.

Right off the bat, rather than set the scene for his film or provide a back story for the production, David slams the Regency production company logo, and says they need a new one.

Then right in the titles as scenes are showing various parts of the town, David described the process of how location scouts spent weeks scouring the US, trying to find the town that best reflected the book, only to have Gillian Flynn the books author tell David “that’s great! The town you found is actually what I sort of based it off of.

To which Fincher replies “You know...for next time, if you have information on stuff like this, you don’t have to keep it a fucking secret. You can hip us in.”

Absolutely fucking hilarious, his dry tone and timing
