It sounds like just another mediocre Netflix movie on paper, but Extraction is fantastic

This movie really kinda floored me. Outside of a little spotty CG here and there, it's extremely competent, tightly directed balls to the wall action from start to finish, the kind that Hollywood doesn't really do anymore. Some genuinely outstanding camera and stunt work, that collection of long takes in the middle is impressive as hell and almost comes near the greatness of The Raid 2.

The gritty Bangladesh setting really gives it a unique flavor and the dynamic between Hemsworth and the kid was great. I also enjoyed how it was completely devoid of Marvel style quips and self-referential action movie humor (which some reviews criticized it for, bizarrely).

Recommended if you like The Raid, John Wick, Taken, Strike Back and Peter Berg's better movies. Would have loved to see this in a cinema. Sam Hargrave is going to be a director to watch.
