The Counselor (2013) Some of the scariest depictions of the cartel ever. How accurate?

From the discussions of the snuff film, to that choker device, to the body in the barrel and the film showing just how wide the reach of the cartel was - going even across to Europe to fine someone.

Does anyone know how accurate the film is in terms of all this? That device used around your neck for instance. I've never really had a film filled with such terror surrounding the cartel before, not even Sicario.
