Are there any movie series where the sequel tells the same story, but from a different characters perspective?

With the lack of creativity in the recent remaking of movies, I’ve wondered why the stories aren’t told from another perspective. The lion king 1 1/2 actually does this concept quite true to my definition. Rouge 1 also touches on this idea of detailing a known but not detailed event. It seems like a common idea to exploit favorable characters in franchises, with spinoffs and merch, but why not expand on them within the capacity we already understand. Ive always wanted to see or read about an alien invasion, from the extraterrestrial perspective.
