Her (2013) - A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with an operating system designed to meet his every need.
"Her" is something of a science-fiction film, set in the not-too-distant but distinctly fantastic future.
The futuristic premise sets the stage for an unusual love story: one in which Theo, still highly damaged and sensitive over the breakup of his marriage falls in love with the artificially intelligent operating system of his computer.
It is a sweet-natured and melancholy film, beautifully directed, that manages to be satirical about love in a digital, distracted age without losing its heartfelt quality. Tender, soulful, and thought provoking, Spike Jonze's film uses its bizarre sci-fi scenario to both comment on the modern reliance on technology as well as impart wisdom about the state of human relationships.
Theo treats her as a real person in order to reconnect with the rest of the world. Although she never comes to life, he believes she is real, and in doing so develops more connections to his community. When he no longer needs her, he lets her go.
This is a very deep and interesting story. It will have you challenging if this could actually be a senerio in our futures. Also you will be feeling empathy for a AI so be ready for an emotional swing.
