How does everyone feel about the Animal House-style ending trope where you get a short blurb about the characters’ futures?

I’ve always gotten a kick out of movies that did this. Camera panning around the room, stopping on each character and giving a block of text or narration that tells us what happened to each person.

A lot of times it’s used for comedy but sometimes it can be really heartbreaking (Stand by Me). Usually feels like a nice bit of fan service to let me relish (or wallow) in the thought of the characters’ lives post-movie.

So what do y’all think of this trope and what’re some good examples? I’d love to watch more movies that end this way.

P.S. My favorite example is Legally Blonde’a ending.
