Why is the audio so unbalanced in movies?

I'm watching John Wick, and the music and sound effects are so loud that I can't hear a damn thing they're saying because they're always whispering. I have a Bose surround sound system in my living room and I constantly have the adjust the volume because of the awful mix. I figured they had professional sound engineers that look out for this since 90% of people probably watch this movie at home instead of movie theaters. Can we petition production companies to fix this?
