The Witch is exactly the kind of horror movie I was looking for

I love dark movies, which has unsettling theme and has no ray of hope for the characters. But most movies in this subgenre have jumpscares and over the top gore. The Witch on the other hand had very little of both while still being nerve-racking throughout. It hides all the horror part and yet is one of the best horror movies of the past decade IMO. Hereditary is a similar movie and thats a masterpiece too. I just want more of such movies to be made but it does have a niche audience.
